[Also in Group VIII] A garment comprises outer and inner layers of flexible air-permeable material and an intermediate layer consisting of an open web of intermingled, fine, cardable fibres arranged in random directions and containing at least 15 per cent of elastic fibres, said web having uniformly distributed therethrough filmy lamellashaped adhering particles of a vulcanized flexible solid binder material cementing adjacent fibres together with preservation of numerous relatively large interstices between the fibres. As shown, a jacket has an outer woven layer 12, an inner woven layer or lining 13 and an interlining 14 secured to the outer layer by stitching. The cardable fibres 16 of the interlining are cemented by lamella-shaped particles 17 of binder material such as natural or synthetic rubber, leaving interstices 18 in the form of flat pores.
