Abstract

730,416. Holders for thermionic valves. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Dec. 23, 1952 [Dec. 29, 1951], No. 32621/52. Class 38 (1). A socket contact for mounting on a printed circuit panel comprises a resilient prongreceiving portion formed of a pair of wings 10, Fig. 3, and resilient arms 11, 12 extending from the ends of the prong-receiving portion, their ends 11a, 12a being parallel and spaced apart and provided with lugs 11b, 12b which form aligned notches adapted to interlock with an aperture in the panel 1, Fig. 2. With a number of contacts thus held in apertures a jig 14 having pins 14c thereon is engaged in the prongreceiving portions of the contacts so as to align them with prong-receiving apertures 7 in the panel. The panel is then dipped in solder to connect the contacts to the printed circuit 2 and to other components, such as a resistor 13, the solder at the same time rigidly anchoring the contacts in position., In a modified contact, Fig. 6 a single, lower, out-turned lug 12b is provided on the arm 12 and arm 11 carries a tail 11c prong-guiding.tips 10a also being provided on the wings 10.
