730,029. Sorting by size. BEER, D. C. Oct. 9, 1953 [July 11, 1952], No. 17538/52. Class 117. Apparatus for grading articles by size comprises a pair of endless conveyers mounted one inside the other and each formed by chains 1, 2 joined by transverse rods 7, the inner rods moving under the gap between the outer rods and at an inclination to them to provide a progressively increasing gap. The idler sprockets 6 for the inner chains are adjustable to vary the gap. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), the inner chains may move through a series of parallel steps, instead of being inclined to the outer chains.
