729,549. Driving-chains. MORSE CHAIN CO. Nov. 16, 1951 [Nov. 16, 1950], No. 26905/51. Class 24. Chordal action in an inside contact inverted tooth driving chain is eliminated by making the joint pins in two parts 30 and 40 which rock and slide on one another to provide a progressive elongation of the chain pitch as the chain is bent around a sprocket. Part 30 may be provided with a convex bearing surface and part 40 with a flat bearing surface as shown, or both parts may have a convex bearing surface. The teeth of the chain and sprocket are generated for conjugate relationship, one or the other being involute.
