Abstract

729,461. Pallet trucks. YALE & TOWNE MANUFACTURING CO. April 21, 1953 [June 11, 1952], No. 14686/52. Class 78 (3). In a pallet truck the lifting tines together with the operating mechanism therefor, are adjustable laterally. The upstanding portions 1a, 2a of tines 1, 2 are provided with non-rotatable nuts 24, 25 co-operating with opposite hand threads 22, 23 on a shaft 21 which is rotated to adjust the tines by means of a hand wheel or electric or hydraulic means engaging the square end portions 26. Flanges 1b, 2b projecting from the tines are slidably mounted on a shaft 3 which when rotated by a lever 18, effects raising and lowering of wheels 17a through a pair of levers 12, 17 linked by a rod 15; the lever 12 being splined to shaft 3 at 14 to enable the mechanism to operate in all positions of adjustment of the tines. The tine portions 1a, 2a are mounted to slide in guides 10, 11. In various modifications (not shown) the tines are locked in their adjusted positions, means are provided to indicate the tine separation, and adjustment is effected by hydraulic rams, or crank-actuated cams.
