Abstract

729,456. Pencil holders. KNIGHT, H. T. Feb. 20, 1954. No. 11004/52. Class 146(3). A propelling pencil comprises a pencil body 1 and a lead-propelling and lead-clamping device 5 detachable from and adjustable along the body 1. The body 1 is slotted radially to permit a pin 5d .to engage a lead 2, the pin 5d being fixed to a split sleeve 5a which tends to spring open. The sleeve 5a has a tapered thread 5b engaging a nut 5c, such that screwing of the nut tightens the sleeve 5a to effect lead clamping after the pin 5d has been adjusted to the required position along the body 1. When the lead 2 is exhausted, the device 5 is transferred to a replacement casing containing a new lead. A projection 5f on the device 5 prevents rolling of the pencil.
