Abstract

2 - Chloro - 4,6 - diarylamino - 1,3,5 - triazines and 2,4 - dichloro - 6 - arylamino - 1,3,5 - triazines may be prepared by the interaction of cyanuric chloride and the corresponding amine. The preparation of 2-chloro-4,6-diarylamino-1,3,5-triazines in which the arylamino groups are 2,5-dichloroanilino, p-nitroanilino, p-anisidino, p-chloroanilino, anilino, a -naphthylamino and N-methylanilino and 2,4-dichloro-6-arylamino - 1,3,5 - triazines in which the arylamino group is p-anisidino, p-chloroanilino, a -naphthylamino, b -naphthylamino, p-toluidino and N-methylanilino is described.ALSO:A fungicidal composition comprising a 2-chloro-4, 6-arylamino-1, 3, 5-triazine or a 2, 4-dichloro-6-arylamino-1, 3, 5-triazine together with a surface active agent and a solid diluent such as clay or talc may be used for treating seeds.ALSO:A fungicidal composition comprises a 2-chloro - 4, 6- arylamino - 1, 3, 5 - triazine or a 2, 4 - dichloro - 6 - arylamino - 1, 3, 5 - triazine together with a surface active dispersing agent and a diluent. Arylamino substituents specified are anilino, o-, pphenylanilino, a -, b - naphthylamino, phenanthylamino, ptoluino, 2.4-dimethylanilino, 3- dodecylanilino, p-cumidino, 4- (mixed) amylanilino, 4- hydrindenylamino, 3- acenaphthylamino, o-, pvinylanilino, o-propenylanilino, pallylanilino, pmethallylanilino, 2- vinyl - a - naphthylamino, 5-propenyl - b - naphthylamino, 2-, 4- chloroanilino, 4- bromoanilino, 2, 5- dichloroanilino, 4- nitroanilino, o-, panisidino, 4- hydroxyanilino, 4- chloroa - naphththylamino, 3-mercapoanilino, 4- aminoanilino, 2- dimethyl-aminoanilino, toluino, 4- nitro - 2 - chloroanilino, 4 - dimethylamino - a - naphthylamino, 4 - (b - chloroethyl) anilino, p - nitrosoanilino, p-phenylazoanilino, 1, 2, 3 - trichloro - 4 - nitro - anilino, 1, 3, 4 trichloro - 2 - nitroaniline, 1, 2, 5 - trichloro - 4 - nitroaniline, pcyanoaniline, p - thiocyanoanilino, p - acetoxy - o - toluino, p - benzoyloxyanilino, 4 - methylmercapoanilino, N - methylanilino, N - methyl - 2, 5 - dichloroanilino, N -methyl - p - anisidino, N - methyl - N - (4 - phenylanilino), N - (p - tolyl) - N - (p - methoxy - phenylanilino. Surface active agents specified are alkyl and alkylyl sulphonates, alkyl sulphates, alkylamide sulphonates, alkylaryl polyether alcohols, fatty acid esters of polyhydric alcohols, ethylene oxide addition products of such esters, addition products of long-chain mercaptans and ethylene oxide. The active ingredient may be employed dissolved in the following solvents: kerosene, benzene xylene, toluene, naphtha, acetone, methylethyl, ketone, cyclohexanone, carbon tetrachloride, trichloro - and perchloro - ethylene, ethyl, butyl and amyl acetate, ethanol, isopropanol, butanol, amyl alcohol, and oleyl alcohol or esters or ethers thereof, monoalkyl ethers of diethylene glycol and monoalkyl ethers of ethylene, perchloroethylene and trichloroethylene glycol. Solutions of the active ingredient in the above solvents may also be used to form oil-in-water emulsions. Solid diluents specified are talc, clay, Fuller's earth, Pyrophyllite, Attaclay, and the Filtrols. An adherent agent such as vegetable oil or naturally occurring gum may also be incorporated in the composition.
