Abstract

727,879. Suit and like cases. ALNET, R. S. Dec. 9, 1953 [Dec. 22, 1952], No. 34314/53. Class 133. A folding suit-case comprises a panel 1 whose edges 2 are turned in at right angles and each carry a continuous hinge 3 supporting side panels 4a and 4b. A panel 5 carries a small hinge 6 at each side, and a threaded rod attached to each panel 4a, 4b, is passed through a hole in the hinge 6 and secured by a knurled nut 17. The upper and lower edges of the panels 1, 4a, 4b, and 5 are turned in at right angles as at 8, and at 8a and 8b, two flexible wires 9 are secured, which at their other ends are secured to a plate 10, the assembly being covered with an envelope 11 of canvas, leather, &c. To fold the suit-case, the nuts 17 are removed and the hinges 6 folded to release the side panels which are then folded back one upon the other against the panel 1. The side portions of the envelope 11 are formed into a bellows fold and the panel 5 rests on the panel 4b, the portion 11c of the envelope being wrapped round the folded panels.
