Class 80 (2) [Also in Group XXII] Torque capacity of a friction-disc slip-coupling in a holder for a tap or reamer on a lathe or drilling machine, is varied, in addition to by the usual screw adjustment k of the loading spring l, by varying the effective number of discs by axially sliding, through a collar m, a key g into engagement with a selected number of faced driving discs f, for connecting them to the driving spindle a which has a taper or other shank received by the machine. The co-operating interleaved driven discs e are slidably keyed in a ball-bearing mounted housing b, to which the tool shank is secured by a grub-screw r and suitable adapterbushes.
