An adapter for use with a grooving tool 10 comprises a body 16, 18, 19, means 17 for mounting the body adjustably on the spindle 12 of the tool so that it rotates with the spindle, and a bottom plate 22 rotatable relatively to the body so that the plate may be kept stationary while the body rotates with the spindle as a groove 27 is cut in the bore 25 of work 24.
