Abstract

723,846. Inductors. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Nov. 13, 1953 [Nov. 21, 1952], No. 29478/52. Class 38 (2). A method of adjusting to within fine limits during the process of manufacture the inductance of a coil 3 having a magnetic core comprises the steps of assembling the core in two portions 5, 6 separated by an air gap 7; inserting a non- magnetic hard-setting organic filling material 8 into the air gap, pressing the two parts 5, 6 of the core together whilst the material 8 is still deformable until the desired inductance has been obtained and finally allowing the material 8 to set into a hard solid. The material 8 may be of a type which adheres to the core parts 5, 6 or it may be of a type which does not adhere thereto, in which case the core members are held in clamps.
