Abstract

720,404. Shaft coupling. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. Jan. 9, 1953 [Feb. 19, 1952], No. 4334/52. Class 80 (2) A flexible shaft coupling comprises a pair of rigid members 1, each adapted to be connected to a shaft and provided with an axially extending projecting portion 8, a resilient member 9 being provided with a complementary recess 10 at each end within which the projecting portions engage and a rigid cover 11 .surrounding the resilient member and being rotatable thereon. The rigid and resilient members are cylindrical in shape and the member 11 is rotatable on self-lubricating. bearings 12, the resilient member consisting of rubber. Silicone fluid between the rotatable member 11 and resilient member 9 acts as a lubricant. Multiple projections and recesses may be used instead of the single projections and slot recesses 8, 10, the end sections of such projections &c. presenting, e.g., a triangular or cruciform section.
