Abstract
719,024. Two-part couplings. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Jan. 21, 1953, No. 1719/53. Class 38 (1). A contact 48 bent from a sheet metal blank, Fig. 7, comprises a pin-receiving tube 53 having a projection 54, and two apertured plates 55, one of which plates has a screw-threaded aperture 57 and is bent at its end to provide an abutment for a lead 6o clamped between the plates 55 when a screw 58 is tightened. Three such contacts are laid in grooves 44 in one half 34. of a plug the projections 54 seating in locating recesses 45. The socket 15 is attached to a bracket 10 fixed onto a sewing machine. Insulating sleeves 42, 41 round one two-core and one three-core cable 47, 46 respectively, are gripped between the plug halves 34, 35 when these are bolted together, the cables supplying a light fixture, the motor, and the motor controller. Earth contacts 22 and 28 are provided on the socket and plug respectively.
