Abstract

718,979. Travelling cases. WOOD & SON, Ltd., W. Dec. 18, 1952, [Dec. 28, 1951.] No. 30339/51. Class 18. The body and lid of a case are formed of identical blanks bent to tray form with tabs on some sides secured to adjacent sides. The body rim is reinforced by a metal band which may be of U-form enclosing the rim or, as shown, at 25, be solid and enclosed by a fabric strip 23. A strip 30 of plywood &c. is secured to the front 14 and sides 15 of the lid to overlap the body. Alternatively a similar strip may be fitted internally. The rear walls of the body and lid are reinforced by boards 12, and a strip 31 secured to the lid, covers the hinges. The lid and base sides may be joggled where the tabs overlap them to give a smooth external finish. The corners may be internally reinforced by metal angle pieces &c. (not shown). The case may be coated or covered and lined.
