718,692. Cooling towers. WESTERGAARD, O. L. B., and BRANCZIK, E. A. C. June 4, 1951 [June 27, 1950], No. 16072/50. Class 64(1) A concrete water-cooling tower has on the inside of the flared mouth 1 a continuous water storage trough 2 the inner wall 3 of which is vertical or nearly so with the inner face extending at 6 below the base of the trough to merge with the inner face 7 of the flared mouth. The arrangement prevents overflow water cascading on to the irrigation stacks below. The interior of the trough is provided with a bitumastic coating. The trough is filled from the usual pond or from the mains, and a down pipe is provided for connection to fire-extinguishing apparatus. Specification 543,444 is referred to.
