Abstract
<PICT:0718418/IV(c)/1> <PICT:0718418/IV(c)/2> In the treating of textile webs by steam or other hot gases which are condensible and which are applied to the web in separated zones of pressure between which the treating fluid is removed at p reduced pressure and after reheating returns to the web, a part of the mixture of the fluid and water vapour or other liquid is condensed in a chamber which is a side branch of the circulation circuit. The apparatus comprises an inner chamber 12 separated from an outer insulated chamber 11 by thermally insulating walls 13. The web 14 which enters through a slot 15 is supported by stenter devices in the chamber and leaves through slot 16. Centrally arranged in the upper and lower halves of chamber 12 are blowers 24, 241 having inlet ports 25a, 25b and a discharge port 26 opening into a duct 29 and nozzles 31 the ports 25a, 25b opening into a heating chamber 27 connected to ducts 28a, 28b. In the outlet channels between the nozzles 31 are baffles 34 providing passages 35. In a modification the web is supported on rollers instead of by stenter devices and in a further modification the web is supported in the chamber only by the gaseous jets issuing from the nozzles.
