Abstract

A surface tension reducing agent is added to a hydraulic mix or to one or more of its components prior to making the mix, said agent being one or more acids or salts thereof the general formula R1 (So3 H)x or R1 R2 (So3H)x. R1 is an aliphatic chain of 8 to 20 carbon atoms, R2 an aromatic nucleus and x a number from 1 to 3. In addition one or more resin saponification products may be present. Typical examples of R1 (So3H)x are the mahogany acids and the compounds known as "Mersolates" obtained from aliphatic hydrocarbons by reaction with chlorine and sulphur dioxide, and saponification of the sulphachlorides.
