Abstract

717,486. Toothed gearing. NERI, G. Dec. 24, 1952 [Dec. 27, 1951], No. 32706/52. Class 80 (1) [Also in Group XVI] Cylinder driving gear. Gears connecting the plate, offset and impression cylinders in an offset printing machine are composed of two parts 20, 29 having helical teeth sloping in opposite directions. The part 20 is secured to the end face of the cylinder 10 by bolts 25 passing through arcuate slots to allow angular adjustment. The part 29 is a ring and attached to part 20 by bolts 32 passing through holes 33 allowing some angular adjustment between the parts. The parts 20, 29 are adjustable angularly so that the tangential driving forces between each part and its corresponding gear part on the mating gear can be exactly equal. This, it is stated, prevents "ruling" of the impression.
