<PICT:0716398/IV (a)/1> A purse or handbag comprises a sheet of flexible, transparent, synthetic plastic bent so that its ends form the mouth of a pouch, a hinge-jointed frame being fitted to the mouth and the edges of the sheet below the frame being sealed together by heat treatment. As shown, a sheet of cellulose acetate is doubled and the ends are secured in a channel section frame 11, the side edges 12 of the sheet being heat-sealed at 13 by means of high frequency electric currents.
