Abstract

716,154. Continuous stationery. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. June 19, 1952 [Aug. 17, 1951], No. 15447/52. Class 16 A web of continuous form stationery comprises a series of tabulating cards 20 each provided with separable marginal strips 21 having pin feed perforations 36, and with separable connecting strips 25 each having an area of adhesive on one face, the web being formed by securing together adjacent connecting strips by means of the adhesive. The adhesive is of a type ineffective at normal temperatures and pressures, for example a thermoplastic adhesive, and has added thereto a colouring matter. Before the cards 20 are connected to each other by application of heat and pressure the two pin perforations 36<SP>1</SP> of adjacent strips 21 are positioned precisely to give equidistant spacing of all the pin feed perforations. Slits 27, 32 and 33 are provided between the strips 21 and the cards 20, small connecting portions 31 remaining between the slits 32 and 33. At one corner of the card 20 there may be a triangular cut-out portion 43. Slits 28. running tangentially into series of spaced perforations 30 are formed between the connecting strips 25 and the cards 20. The tear lines are continued through the marginal strips as shown at 42 and 46. In a modification shown in Fig. 6 a separable stub-card 119 is associated with each tabulating card 120, slits 140 and triangular perforations 126 being provided on the tear line between the two cards. The tear line between the card 119 and its pin-feed strip is formed of straight slits 147 and alternating connecting portions 148. Specification 315,881, [Class 106(i)], is referred to.
