Abstract

Polyvinyl chloride or copolymers of at least 70 per cent. by weight of vinyl chloride with another monomer are plasticized with a mixture of esters made by completely esterifying diethylene glycol with a mixture of acids consisting of an aliphatic mono-olefinic monocarboxylic acid having from 10 to 20 carbon atoms in the molecule and benzoic or toluic acid, or a mixture of benzoic acid and toluic acid or a mixture of toluic acids at least 10 per cent. but less than 50 per cent. by weight of the mixture of acids being aliphatic mono-olefinic acid. Specified mono-carboxylic acids are decenoic, undecenoic, palmitoleic, elaidic and oleic acids. The other monomer may be vinyl acetate or vinylidene chloride.
