Abstract
714,285. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Nov. 25, 1952. [Feb. 11, 1952], No. 3533/52. Class 35 A rotor core has axial ducts below and communicating with the winding slots whereby air or gas, e.g. hydrogen passes along the ducts and then radially out through or over the slot winding to the air-gap, additional gas being fed through axial ducts in the teeth which communicate with the other (deeper) ducts. As shown, gas passes along ducts 6 in the teeth then through radial passages 8 and apertures 9 to join gas travelling along, ducts 5, the gas then passing through channels 3 in the conductors, to reach the air-gap. Alternatively, the gas passages in the conductor slots may be between the conductor and the slot linings. The double feeding of gas may be confined to the central (axially) part of the rotor only.
