Abstract

713,443. Temperature-responsive actuating-elements. TAYLOR, E. H. May 16, 1952 [May 16, 1951], No. 11487/51. Class 64(2). [Also in Group XXXVII] The switch of Specification 600,055 is modified in that an elongated bimetal strip 1, as shown forming a semicircle clamped at points 2 and 6, has a contact strip 8 attached thereto at one end. The supports stress the strip so that it has a stable position on either side of an unstable position. The support 6 may comprise an upright doubled back on itself so as to be resilient, a notched stud, Fig. 4 (not shown), engaging an aperture in the strip 1, or an upright on a lever 21, Fig. 5, pivoted at 22 and engaged by a spring 23 having a number of alternative anchorages 24. The strip 1 may form two sides of a triangle, three sides of a rectangle or a nearly complete circle arranged in a groove in a cylinder.
