Abstract
712,959. Waveguides. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. Aug. 26, 1952 [Sept. 5, 1951], No. 21453/52. Class 40 (8) A wave guide arrangement which transforms a H 01 wave in a rectangular guide 4 into a H 0 wave in a circular guide 1, or vice versa, comprises a conductive partition 3 in guide 1 with rectangular guides 2 each penetrating at one end into the circular guide 3 at right angles to partition 3, and at the other end forming a series T junction with guide 4. The guides 2 may be of the same length and intersect guide 3 at the same point in its axis. Alternatively the lengths of the guides may vary by one quarter of the working wave length and their ends may be spaced the same amount along guide 3. In a modification connecting two circular guides the two T junctions that would be required in a double arrangement as above are redundant and can be omitted. The guides 2 then remain separate and are joined only to each circular guide at each end.
