711,645. Pulverulent-fuel furnaces. WALTHER & CIE AKT.-GES. Feb. 5, 1952 [Feb. 5, 1951], No. 3022/52. Class 51 (1) A pulverulent-fuel furnace is characterized by the provision of one or more ignition chambers arranged alongside of, and substantially parallel to, the combustion chamber. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the combustion chamber 10 has in its four corners ignition chambers 14 provided with burners 16. Air is supplied through nozzles 17, 21 and 22. The flow of fuel and air through the ignition chambers is in the opposite direction to the flow through the chamber 10. Slag deposited on surfaces 18 drips down to an outlet funnel 20. In modifications the ignition chambers extend along two or more walls of the chamber 10.
