Class 122(1) A reciprocable mechanism comprises a housing 16 providing pairs of integral outside bottom guides 26 and top guides 27, an intermediate bottom guide 26, an opening between the top guides 27, a cover plate 28 removably attached to the housing 16 over the opening and an intermediate top guide 23 integral with or secured to webs 30, 31 integral with the plate 28. The plate 28 may be of light metal with a bearing shoe of wear resisting metal secured thereto. The guides 26. 27 may also have removable bearing shoes. The crossheads 15 comprise side plates 21, 22 with top and bottom plates 23, 24 welded thereto and bearing shoes 25 bolted to the plates 23, 24
