Abstract

709,794. Pipe joints. TUBE TURNS, Inc. June 23, 1952 [Aug. 13, 1951], No. 15744/52. Class 99 (1). A welded pipe joint comprises a pair of joint mem bers 6, 7 adapted to be welded to the pipe ends, anc having overlapping axial flanges 10, 11 and external flanges 15, 16 which are con. nected by a weld 17. The flanges define between them grooves 18, 19 which form a chamber to receive scale anc excess weld metal. The dimensions of the flanges 10, 11 are such as to provide a narrow passage from the chamber to the pipe bore. The flange 10 may seat on the member 7, in which case notches 20 are provided to complete the passage.
