Abstract
709,743. Air-heating stoves. ROBERTS, T. A., and WORNE, S. July 2, 1952 [June 26, 1951], No. 15168/51. Class 64(1) In a gas-fired air heater in which air flowing through a combust i o n chamber is heated by combustion of gas from a gas burner located in the chamber. the gas supplied to the burner is heated by the combustion products during its passage to and/ or through purification material for removing sulphur compounds from the gas. In the form. shown, the heat - exchanger mounted at the top of the combustion chamber comprises a metal vessel 14 and a cover 28 clamped together by pivoted arms 17 and a bolt 18, and is divided by partitions 16 into compartments connected together in series and containing purifying material. Hot gas passing from the heat-exchanger to the burner 13 flows through and is cooled in a gilled tube 21 located near an inlet 22 for fresh air drawn in by the fan 27. In a modification, the heat-exchanger has a rectangular central flue and an outer jacket, for the passage of combustion gases. In another form, the fuel gas is heated in a horizontal U-shaped conduit in the upper part of the combustion chamber, before entering an insulated container for the purification material. Specification 613,651 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 676,200.
