709,426. Reciprocating pumps. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., ELLIOTT, H. E., FRAMPTON, S. E., and MAKOVSKI, S. A. March 21, 1952 [March 22, 1951], No. 6858/51. Class 102 (1). [Also in Group VII] A pump for supplying oil to the needle of a sewing machine comprises twin cylinders 207, 209 with their plungers connected by a threearmed lever 215 actuated by a cam 229 which completes one revolution in about 200 cycles of operation of the machine, although rotating continuously; the cam follower 221 is connected to the lever 215 by a link 219 with adjustable attachment to the follower, whereby the stroke of the pump can be varied. An inlet passage 243 communicates with the lower ends of the cylinders through ball valves, and the outlets from the cylinders are through ball-valves in their side walls into a passage 251 in front of the passage 243.
