Abstract

The invention comprises 2- or 3-dialkylamino alkyl xanthones having also optionally halogen-, alkoxy-, nitro- or amino-groups in one of the 5-8 positions, obtainable from the corresponding 2- or 3-aminoxanthones, by reaction with a dialkylaminoalkyl halide. In examples, diethylaminoethyl chloride or its hydrochloride is caused to react with 2-amino-, 3-amino-, 2-amino-, 6-chloro-, 2-methoxy-6-amino-, and 2-amino-7-nitro-xanthones to give the corresponding dialkylaminoalkyl compounds; 5-diethylamino - 2 - bromopentane hydrobromide gives the corresponding product with 3-amino-xanthone; nitro products may be reduced to amino products; other reagents include 3-amino - 8 - nitroxanthone, g - diethylamino propyl chloride and similar dialkylaminoalkyl halides and their hydrohalides.
