Class 12(1) In a method of mounting a ball or roller bearing d in a split housing a, a split elastic cylindrical bush c is disposed between the outer race of the bearing and the inner surface of the housing, the splits f, g being out of coincidence, and the seating is tightened around the bush by means of the nut and bolt b. The split is preferably arranged remote from the split f. The split housing .may be in the form of a detachable cap secured by two bolts.
