Abstract

708,070. Pressing-plates. MATHER, R. April 28, 1952 [May 3, 1951], No. 10442/51. Class 69 (2). [Also in Group V] A resilient pressure pad for a moulding or like press comprises a body having a substantially cylindrical spigot, a cap telescopically slidable over the spigot, and a resilient frusto-conical washer interposed to advance the cap relatively to the spigot. The body 20 is screwed to the under surface of the upper platen of the press and its spigot 24 has at its end a cylindrical surface 29 over which the cap 25 slides. The cap 25 is retained against the pressure of the resilient washer 36 by a circlip 30 which springs outwards into a semi-circular groove 31 in the cap. To enable the circlip to be contracted sufficiently for the device to be dismantled a groove 32 is formed in the spigot 24. Notches 35 are cut in the edge of the flange of the cap to allow the circlip to be pushed inwards. More than one spring washer may be used. Alternatively the body 20 may be secured to the upper surface of the base of the press.
