Abstract
707,297. Flexible fireproof hoses. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. Jan. 24, 1952 [Feb. 2, 1951], No. 2589/51. Class 99 (2). A lining 1 of natural or synthetic rubber, e.g. a butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer, is surrounded by a tubular wire braid 3, e.g. of 30-33 S.W.G. high tensile steel wire, a tubular asbestos braiding 7 and an outer metal reinforcement 9 such as a helically wound wire of steel, brass, copper or duralumin the convolutions of which may be adjacent but preferably are spaced apart. There may be a cotton braiding 2 adjacent the lining 1, a further tubular wire braid 5, intermediate layers 4, 6, 8 of synthetic rubber, e.g. of neoprene, and an overall rubber covering 10. The braids may be impregnated with rubber solution, and the braid 2 may be covered with a layer of rubber wound helically with overlapping turns or applied as a longitudinally extending tape or by extrusion. The hose is finally vulcanised.
