706,559. Weather screens. SPALLAROSSA, V., and SCHIAFFINO, R. Jan. 16, 1951 [June 1, 1950], No. 1169/51. Class 20 (1). [Also in Group XXXIII] A screen for protecting goods during loading operations to or from vehicles or ships comprises a first covering 8 mounted on, and slidable relatively to, a rope 12 supporting the goods, and a second covering 3 supported over the vehicle, e.g. over the hold 1 of a ship, the -covering 8 being adapted to close a hole 5 in the covering 3 when the rope 12 is passed therethrough. To load goods into the hold 1, a plate 14 supporting the goods on the end of the rope 12 is lowered towards shutters 6 in the covering 3, the goods being protected by the bell-shaped hood 8 which rests on a stop 10 on the rope 12. On approaching the hold 1, the shutters 6 are opened to permit the goods to pass through the hole 5, and downward movement of the hood 8 is arrested by the shutters 6, a guide 15 positioning the hood 8. The converse sequence of operations is carried out for unloading. In the case of a lorry, the parts 3, 6, 15 may be supported on legs having wheels at their lower ends, for positioning the part over the lorry, the parts 8, 10, 12, 14 being placed, e.g. on the roof of a storehouse.
