[Also in Group VIII] Shells 35 for insulating pipes are made by winding a mineral fibre fleece, which has been impregnated with a binder, on to a core under slight pressure, and enclosing in a sieve mould, excess binder being removed by suction. The shells may be centrifuged about their own axes to remove binder or solvent, removed and dried.
