703,617. Combine-harvesters; huskers. MINNEAPOLIS-MOLINE CO. May 10, 1950, No. 11659/50. Class 58. [Also in Group XXXI] Relates to a tractor-implement combination in which the implement shown in Figs. 6 and 7 as a combine harvester and in Fig. 9 as a husker is mounted on the tractor (see Group XXXI) by means 85 on the front axle housing 14 of the tractor and means 100, 101 on the side of the tractor frame. As shown in Figs. 6 and 7 the combine harvester is of the " straight-through " type and has a comparatively narrow housing 105 containing the usual threshing elements including a forward beater 106 to the rear end of which housing is a hood 107 from which straw is discharged. Over the housing 105 is a grain tank. 108 to which the clean grain is delivered by a conveyer 109, a tailings conveyer returning any uncleaned grain for recirculation. A header 111 having the usual sickle and conveyer mechanism is supported at the front end of the housing 105 to permit up and down adjustments of its front end to regulate. the cutting. These adjustments are effected through linkage 149, 147, a hydraulic ram 139 and a supply pump, the pump, ram and link 147 being carried by the tractor. The combine harvester is driven from the tractor engine through a belt drive, a pulley 126 serving to tension the belt and to declutch such drive and the movement of the pulley being controlled from the tractor. As shown in Fig. 9, the husker unit comprises a bed frame carrying the usual husking bed and conveyer assemblies and supporting a rearwardly directed elevator 153 for delivering the cleaned corn. Forward of the bed frame and pivoted thereto for up and down adjustments in the same manner as the header 111 in Fig. 6 are snouts 154, between which operate the usual gathering chains or snapping rolls. Surmounting it is a conveyer 155 for delivering the harvested ears to the husking mechanism. The husker unit is driven in the same manner as the combine harvester shown in Figs. 6 and 7.
