Class 31 (1) Apparatus for separating intermittently-fed continuous webs of paper or the like into lengths by tearing along lines of perforations extending across the webs, comprises a clamp 4 which grips the web on each side of a perforated line while the web is at. rest between intermittent feed movements, and a plate 10 which is reciprocated to tear the web along the perforated line, the plate being formed with two . or more portions angularly disposed relatively to one another and adapted to initiate the tearing at one or more points in the perforated line.
