Class 34(2) [Also in Group VIII] In a process for drying rabbit or other fur-bearing skins, the skins are held in a flat state by pressing them against a stationary or moving surface by means of air pressure. The surface may be provided with air passages, and the skins held by a vacuum applied to one side of the surface or by air pressure applied on the other side. As shown, the skins with the fur side uppermost are carried on the top run of an endless perforated conveyer belt 1 and are held in position by means of vacuum applied to a box 5; the drying chamber 3 includes gas-heated panels 4 and ducts 8 for introducing air; hot air or steam pipes may also be used for drying.
