Abstract

In a froth flotation process, use is made of an alkoxy ester of the formula <FORM:0701821/II/1> or a dioxan compound of the formula <FORM:0701821/II/2> or both. R1, R2, R3 are alkyl groups; R4 is an alkoxy group; R5, R6, R7 are hydrogen, an alkyl group or an alkoxy group and n is zero or an integer. Compounds referred to are:-ethyl-4 : 4-diethoxy - butane - 1 - carboxylate ethyl-5 : 5-diethoxy-pentane-1-carboxylate; 2 : 3 : 5 : 6-tetraisopropoxy-1 : 4-dioxan; methyl-3 : 3-dimethoxy-propane-1-carboxylate; methyl-4 : 4-dimethoxy-butane-1-carboxylate; methyl-5 : 5-dimethoxy-pentane-1-carboxylate; methyl-8 : 8-dimethoxy-octane-1-carboxylate; ethyl-3 : 3-diethoxypropane-1-carboxylate and ethyl-8 : 8-diethoxy-octane-1-carboxylate. Other reagents may also be present including 1 : 1 : 2 : 2-tetraethoxyethane, 1 : 1 : 2 : 2-tetranormalpropoxyethane, 1 : 1 : 2 : 2-tetraisopropoxyethane, 1 : 1 : 2 : 2-tetrabutoxyethane, 1 : 1 : 2 : 2-tetranormalpropoxypropane, 1 : 1 : 4 : 4-tetramethoxybutane, 1 : 1 : 5 : 5-tetraethoxypentane, ethyl xanthate, dithiophosphates, phosphocresylic acids and diphenyl thiourea.
