701,406. Motor-vehicle steering gear. BRITISH TRANSPORT COMMISSION. July 23, 1952 [July 24, 1951], No. 17534/51. Class 79(5) In steering mechanism including a pair of pendant arms 19, 23 pivotally mounted for swinging movement transversely of the vehicle and connected by a transverse tie rod 25, one of the arms (19) constituting the drop arm for transmitting the movement of the steering column 17, each of the pendant arms is duectly connected to the steering arm 31 of the adjacent road wheel by another transverse rod (28). The pivotal axis of the arms 19, 23 is inclined downwardly and rearwardly, Fig. 3 (not shown). The mechanism is suitable for public service vehicles having independent wishbone link front supension and a steering column 17 which is only slightly inclined to the vertical.
