Class 46 [Also in Groups XXVI and XXVIII] A funnel-shaped strainer 2 for intercepting sponge rubber bodies 7 coated with abrasive material and used for leaning the tubes of a heat-exchanger comprises a number of rings 6 streamlined in cross-section and coaxially disposed in a step-like manner. The. rings are held together by .bars 5, and are enamelled or coated with foil. The strainer may be tilted on trunnions for cleaning by the water conveying the bodies which pass to an outlet 3 and into a conduit 4. In modifications, the strainer (a) is divided into halves which are tilted apart, and (b) is provided with a cleaning scraper rotated by a propeller acted upon by the flow of water.
