Abstract

700,827. Reamers. AMMCO TOOLS, Inc. Aug. 30, 1951 [Sept. 18, 1950], No. 20483/51. Class 83 (3) A rotatable cylinder-ridge reamer comprises a pair of end members 20, 24 having grooves tangential to a base circle concentric with the reamer axis, means 28 for moving the members to and from each other to adjust the reamer; the means being slidable in one member 20 and threaded through the other 24, guide members 30, ... 32 supported by said end members and each having a body element and a head element 40, the guide members converging inwardly and the head element being positioned to move radially of the axis, means 48 for supporting the reamer in a cylinder, a reamer blade assembly on one head element, and means 38 yieldably retaining the guide members. The blade assembly comprises a cutting member 82 and a resilient or elastic blade equalizer 64 disposed between the cutting member and the inner surface of a recess in the guide 32. The cutting-edge of the blade is inclined so as to countersink the cylinder bore very slightly and ensure complete removal of the ridge 16.
