Class 145 (2) A circular re-sawing machine comprises two to twelve simultaneously cutting blades and an associated, independent positively acting driving means arranged above the blades to press upon and advance the work being sawn at a speed proportional to the blade speed, the means being adjustable towards and away from the bench and being resiliently compensated. The work is advanced by rollers 4, 5 journalled in a triangular frame 6 for rocking motion about its apex where it is secured to an arm 7, the latter being acted upon by an adjustable spring 20, through the shaft 24 and arm 7a. The latter arm is engaged by a cam 13 which is adjustable by lever 8 to set the minimum clearance between the rollers and saw blades. A flat 13a on the cam gives a self locking action when the arm 7 is fully raised for attention to the saws &c. Lever 27a is provided to give an independent lifting action on the rollers and is controlled by the pedal 26. It is attached to the triangular plate by a slotted connection to allow the rollers to adjust themselves to slight irregularities in the work size and is attached nearer the roller 4 so that this roller exerts more pressure on the work than the other roller 5. Idling rollers 28, 29 facilitate movement of the work. The rollers are driven by a chain engaging sprockets 4a, 5a, 16 and idler 17 and a further chain engaging sprockets 16 and 19. The latter is driven from an independent motor through a gearbox. The sawblade unit may be removable or adjustable in height. A roller form and counterbalanced pressure roll, also a coolant system, may also be provided.
