Abstract

700,142. Jointing by forging. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. Dec. 14, 1951 [Dec. 15, 1950], No. 29395/51. Class 83 (4) [Also in Groups XXV and XXXVI] Riveting.-In a method of fastening two wires to each other, and one to each side of a plate, the wires are inserted in axial cavities in the ends of a rivet placed in a hole in the plate and the rivet and wires are simultaneously secured in a riveting operation. An electrolytic condenser has an external tin-plated wire 2 for a soldering connection and an internal aluminium wire 3 electrically connected together and attached to a laminated rubber and paper-resin lid 4 by an aluminium rivet 5, Fig. 1, having axial cavities 1 into which the ends of the wires are inserted. The rivet is axially and radially compressed to form heads with the wires securely held inside, and forms a hermetic seal with the resin layer 6. The ends of the wires may be threaded or grooved. In a modification the rivet may be anchored in unevennesses 7, Fig. 4, in the hole of the plate 4.
