Abstract

699,087. Vehicle seats. COX & CO. (WATFORD), Ltd., and TOON, C. July 23, 1951 [July 26, 1950], No. 18698/50. Class 52(ii) A sliding seat for vehicles having a locking device at each side is provided with a single operating member, conveniently accessible to the driver, connected to the locking devices by flexible means. As shown, the slides at each side comprise a member 6 secured to the floor and a cooperating member 4 slidable thereon by means of intervening bearing balls 5, the member 4 being carried by the seat frame 1, 2. Wires 15 at each side passing through rigid tubes 16 are operable by a single bell-crank lever 17 pivoted at 18 to the seat frame and are connected to locking members 9 the tailpieces 10 of which are adapted to pass into a selected pair of lateral slots 7, 8 on the slide members 4, 6. The lateral movement of the locking members 9 is biased into locking engagement by springs 12. In a modification the wires may pass through flexible tubes to the dashboard, where they are operated by a push-button. Specification 669,664, [Group XXXIV], is referred to.
