Abstract
698,685. Delivering measured quantities of liquids. DANCO EXPORT & IMPORT, Ltd. Oct.. 29, 1951 (Nov. 1, 1950]. No. 26703/50. Class 106(v). In apparatus for delivering measured quantities of liquids, of the type having a free piston 2 oscillafed in a cylinder I by the pressure of the liquid to be measured, the movement of the piston into its extreme positions operates a valve or valves controlling the inlet and discharge of the liquids. As shown in Fig. 1, a pair of slide valves 7 and 8 have abutments 9, 10, 11 and 12 which are engaged by the piston 2 to control inlet ports 3, 4 and outlet ports 5, 6 close to each end of the cylinder. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the piston through push rods 35, 36 operates electrical switches or hydraulic valves connected to an electric or hydraulic relay which turns an interconnected pair of valves 27, 28 to the appropriate inlet or discharge positions. The gland tube 43 for the push rod 35 can be adjusted in position to vary the stroke of the piston and clamped by a split cone 45 and nut 44. An air cock may be fitted at a high point in the liquid supply line 31 or on the cylinder, for freeing the apparatus of air before use.
