698,294. Surgical splints. KELLY, V. L. Aug. 22, 1951, No. 19755/51. Class 81 (ii). A protecting splint consists of a pair of parallel legs 14 connected at one end and having transversely weakened parts 16 for the removal of a portion of each leg 14, cradles-18 and guards 22 being slidably movable on the legs 14, the guards 22 being larger than the cradles 18 so that they are spaced farther from the injured member than the cradles 18. The cradles 18 and guards 22 are provided with bosses 20, 24 so that they may be placed on the legs 14 as desired. The device may be secured on the injured limb by adhesive tape bound over the cradles 18. A bandage may be disposed either under or over the device. The splint is made from metal, synthetic resin, wood or fibre.
