698,183. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. STARRFRASMASCHINEN AKT.-GES. Aug. 4, 1950 [Aug. 6, 1949], No. 19552/50. Class 135 A machine tool having a pressure-fluid operated piston 3 for moving a table 5 comprises a control valve member 12 for the piston, rotatable by gearing 43, 42 and engaging a threaded shaft 40 attached to a pinion 37 meshing with a rack 36 on the table. Pressure fluid is supplied through lines 27, 28 to both sides of the piston, there being a continuous bleed to exhaust line 29 through the valve when its control member is in neutral position. Rotation of gear 43 results in axial movement of member 12 and corresponding movement of the table 5 which, by the rack 36 and pinion 37 causes recentering movement of member 12. In a modification, the rack and pinion have inclined teeth and the pinion is directly attached to member 12. The drive of the gear 43 may incorporate change-speed gearing.
