Class 52(v) [Also in Groups I and XL(c)] In aerial and like supports for mounting on existing structures such as chimney stacks, of the kind comprising a bracket shaped to fit a part of the structure and from which bracket one or more tensioned cables extend around the structure to hold the bracket in position, a cable tensioning means includes a rotary shaft to which the cable may be fixed, the shaft. being adapted to be rotated by a large leverage to wind the cables on to the shaft and locking means to lock the shaft against rotation when tension has been applied to the cable. A form of bracket for supporting an aerial rod or mast on the corner of a chimney stack has bolted clamps 5, 6 for gripping the rod or mast and two wire strainers, one for each end of a wire going round the stack and by which the bracket is positioned on the stack. Each strainer consists of a frame 8 carrying a rotatable shaft 11, through a slot 20 in which the wire is passed and around which the wire is wound to strain it. A ratchet wheel 13 is formed integrally with the shaft and co-operates with a gravity actuated sliding pawl 16 to prevent unwinding of the wire. The shaft has a hexagonal end by which it is rotated and the pawl is locked after the wire is strained by a bolt 15 screwed into the frame 8. In a modification, the pawl is omitted and the ratchet wheel is replaced by a wheel having a plurality of holes through one of which a bolt inserted through an aperture in the side of the frame can be positioned. In both constructions one side of the frame is slotted and the other recessed so that the shaft and wheel can be positioned; axial movement in use is prevented by the tension of the wire.
