Abstract

695,138. Forging bolts. OMES, Ltd., and MORA, G. Nov. 19, 1951 [Nov. 27, 1950], No. 29004/50. Class 83 (iv). [Also in Group XXV] A foundation bolt with a head that is thin relatively to the shank diameter but has a transverse dimension more than twice this diameter is produced by electrical upsetting followed by die pressing whilst the blank is still at forging temperature. The upsetting is effected by holding the blank between dies 15 and crowding the metal, through the dies, and against an anvil 17 by a hydraulic ram 21. The anvil and dies are connected to the secondary of a heating transformer.
